Mission Mission

From “Learning from the Past” to “Creating through Learning from the Past”

Creating a sustainable society through learning from the past and innovating

“Learning from the past” – this phrase comes from the Analects, “Visiting the old, learning from it, and discovering the new.”

We Japanese have long cherished this spirit, believing that objects carry a soul and nurturing a culture that treats things with care. Even compared to other countries, the deeply rooted “mottainai” mindset is one of the values Japan can truly be proud of.
However, in an era of rapid globalization, for Japan to further shine on the world stage, it is not enough to simply inherit this DNA; it must be evolved.
That is why we embrace the concept of “Creating through Learning from the Past.”
This means learning from past technologies, culture, and history, evolving them, and generating entirely new value. And what makes that evolution possible is technology.
Our “almost-new smartphones,” “100% battery-refurbished devices,” and even our “pay-as-you-go smartphones” were born from this very spirit.
By combining the traditional Japanese “mottainai” attitude with cutting-edge technology, we create new value in smartphones and connect it to a sustainable society.
This is not merely a business—it is a challenge to pass on value across time and weave it into the future.
Learning from the past, sublimating it with modern technology, and connecting it to the future—that is our mission.

Message from the CEO Message from the CEO

Hamakazu Awazu,
President and CEO, NewsedTech Inc.

I have embraced the mission of “Creating a New Industry in Japan” and continue to take on challenges every day. Today, technology evolves at a rapid pace, and with every new innovation, the old becomes obsolete and is discarded.
Yet, I firmly believe that within these changes lie tremendous possibilities.
Moreover, I am committed to harnessing technology to build a sustainable business model.
Through this effort, we aim to create new value that transcends the boundaries between new and used products.

Learning from History

I love history and hold deep respect for the sustainable way of thinking of the Edo period. At that time, people led a cyclical lifestyle by repurposing clothing as fertilizer to nurture plants.
In this way, the spirit of “nurturing the old to learn the new” remains important today and forms the very core of my management philosophy.
Additionally, I carry with me a lesson inherited from our family’s woolen fabric business: “Companies and markets that cannot adapt to change will eventually decline.” This principle serves as a major guiding light in my current challenges.

Efforts to Adapt to Change

As times change, I have always strived to view things from a new perspective. For instance, during the sensational transition from feature phones to smartphones, I explored not merely the product shift but also how to generate new value.
In the used market, items such as cars, houses, and clothing have discovered their worth and earned public acceptance. Likewise, I am convinced that smartphones also harbor untapped potential.
With this mindset, I am working to build a sustainable business model.

“Transcending the boundaries between new and used to create a sustainable future through technology.”

Origin and Evolution of the Company Name

At our founding, our company was known as “Awaazu.” In 2017, we changed our name to “Keitai Ichiba Inc.” and focused our business on the sale of used smartphones.
In 2022, we adopted the name “NewsedTech Inc.” This coined term combines “NEW” (new) and “USED” (used), signifying the elimination of the boundary between new and used products through technology.
It embodies a strong commitment not only to buying and selling used smartphones but also to creating new business models that enable mobile devices to be used for a long time, thereby contributing to a sustainable society.
My personal mission is deeply intertwined with our company’s mission of “Creating a Sustainable Society through Learning from the Past and Creating.” I believe that by aligning individual challenges with our company’s efforts, we can make a greater impact on society.

Identity and Challenge

My identity is rooted in my love of history and the application of lessons from the past to the future.
Studying Drucker’s management theories, I realized that in times of change, it is crucial not only to adapt but also to take the initiative.
I will continue to cherish ancient wisdom and generate new ideas to create new industries in Japan, building a future that holds value for society and our customers.
